Now that it’s done I’m happy with the Inspired by your thread, I re-evaluated my local music + Apply Music library. Overall, I found this to be a manageable process once I developed a routine, but it did require some time. Going from memory, since I’m not at my Mac, I took the following steps: This was a problem when the service was first introduced. Now that it’s done I’m happy with the results. In cases where Apple had overwritten artwork or metadata, I personally found it simpler to re-rip the disc rather than manually updating artwork etc., but YMMV on this one. The library migrations can be run overnight so you don’t have to sit around waiting for them. Recopy your files from the backup location Delete your Apple Music library from the location it was uploading from AND delete the library that you see in your iTunes-like screen. Also turn off the feature that allows the program to organize your library. In settings, turn off the features that allow the program to automatically download artwork.Temporarily move a copy of your file library to another location. In Music settings turn off library sync.I will also say that it made me feel less paranoid at having made the decision years ago to never put my lossless "master" files into itunes.Ĭlick to expand. This was a problem when the service was first introduced. I feel like they're intentionally doing this so that if someone cancels their AM sub, they find so many problems, which are overwhelming to the average "not computer person" that they just reenable the sub so they can access their music and/or have it look the way they're used to. But, it's a really super **** thing Apple is doing with this. Luckily, I backed it all up prior, so I just restored it rather than try to fix it all. When I cancelled Apple Music last year, my local library was in tatters. Of course-it was detailed above how you can create a different iTunes library file that's you can't use your original library for anything, as it's tied to the same AppleID, thus it will attempt to sync it. I know.because it's the only way I used it last month-you can't basically "favorite" anything.can't download anything locally(because in the background that also "adds to library".all of that is tied to having cloud sync on. You can't really use Apple Music without Cloud Sync on.
